UTZ

Hello Chip Clubbers!
(if there are any out there...hello? anyone? *tap tap tap....is this thing on?)

I have become a chip club transplant leaving our C3 Chip Club Chicago and heading off to New York City.

Having grown up in the midwest and having spent the majority of my chip eatin' days in the midwest, I have sadly not been exposed to much regional diversity of the chip, consuming (and enjoying) all the middle west of america has to offer in the succulent snack we know as the chip.

Having moved to New York and not having a job I , once again, have resolved to purchase the often more reasonably priced regional chip. It's wonderful how, often, it the regional chip that is most affordable. Probably because of the lower distribution/marketing and manufacturing prices! Economics, the lover of chips and chip aficionados!

Anylays

I have started eating Utz Chips
UTz is manufactured  in Hanover PA.

Utz Chips come in the standard flavors, flamin' hot, honey bbq, plain, etc...

So far I've had the pleasure of trying the Flamin' Hot and Honey BBQ.
The Flamin' Hot chip was the most successful when comparing the two flavors. Although at times a bit over-powering, the Flamin' Hot, or FH, had a good balance between spice and flavor. Often the latter is forgotten when intending the make the hottest fucking chip possible, I'm looking at you Lays FH, looking straight at you buddy.
Not Utz! The FH is a pretty good blend. The only draw back is that flavor distribution is a little erratic. So watch out!

The Honey BBQ, or HBQ, on the other hand has been a little disappointing. The nuance that is held by Utz FH, has been foregone, instead HBQ has favored the honey descriptor more than the BBQ. At first munch I thought I had stubbled upon a sweet potato chip. The same flavor distribution problem remains, but sometimes there is a chip with more bbq than honey and those my friends are the most satisfying moments.

All in all, Utz is pretty good, FH far superior to HBQ.

And I can't end this post with out a shout out to Thomasson's Chips. Ohio Regional chips 4lyfe.

Chip love-

Rafael

Kristina and I were just in DC and saw them and said to ourselves "lets take some of those back for Chip Club" and then proceeded to completely forget about them. :(
